November 30, 2010

The gang's all here for walk #334.  Kristin and Kelly led the way for this walk on this last day of November.  Still up in the 80s, but a massive cold front is coming.  Soon the jackets will come out!  I can't wait.
At some point in this walk I took over the lead and kept going.  The girls are back there on the sidewalk.
The gators came completely out of the water today to sun themselves.  This is a first on the walks, usually they're only partially out.
Back to work after the walk.  This is where I work, this is Bay News 9 and Bright House Carillon.  The upper floor right before the circular center part is where our conference room is located.  334 is in the books.  31 more to go!

November 29, 2010

Today Kristin and I walked the Carillon boardwalk for walk #333.  Thank god for my work partner.  She makes sure I get out there, and keep it going.  It was still hot today and we just can't believe we're still near the 80s at the end of November.
These little butterflies were out in full force today.  We were surrounded by them on out walk, and a few even circled Kristin's head, despite her efforts to shoo them away.  First time this has ever happened, I wonder what sign this was supposed to be.
I think the baby gators are growing up.  Here's one of the little ones sunning himself, but he's still got to be about 5 feet long.
The journey continues... 32 walks to go!

November 28, 2010

It's Sunday, and this is walk #332.  I'm with my daughter Melissa today and we're out on Redington Shores, just a little south of Indian Rocks Beach.  We're walking and then heading up to the hospital to see my Mom today, who is in the hospital with a partial bowel obstruction.  It never never ends.
Just me, enjoying the cooler weather and the sunshine.
Melly loves the beach.  She's in a good place, and having fun.
A horseshoe crab washed up on the shore
She hates it, but she picks it up.  LOL.  Melly, you make me laugh.
We walked by this old and rundown place.  This is the Sunset View Motel.  I used to come with the family here on vacations and this is one of the places where we stayed.  Makes you feel old to see this place with so many memories in this condition.

November 27, 2010

This is #331.  I'm at Indian Rocks Beach again, today is windy and cooler.  You can see the little whitecaps behind me.  Nice day.
This is what Crabby Bills looks like when there's nobody around.  Of course, it's early in the morning, but by Noon, you won't be able to get a seat in this place.  I LOVE the kitschy crab up on the roof.
This is the REAL version of all those hotel pictures you see hanging on bare walls.  The colors are amazing, and the landscape inviting.
A seagull enjoys his tiny catch of the day!  He was playing around with it for a long time before he decided to fly off and enjoy it.
The ankles swelling, the vericose veins a poppin.  This has been a long year.  Kickin' my feet up and enjoying the finish of 331.

November 26, 2010

It's walk #330 tonight, and I headed for the Indian Rocks Bridge, the one that goes over the Intercoastal.  It's sunset and the water looks beautiful down below.
The other side says "Welcome to Largo" but when you head west, you're heading out to Indian Rocks.
The view down below.  That's where the money is.
It IS a bit of an incline.  This ain't no walk in the park... well, it sorta is.
Spotted this osprey on the way back to work from lunch today.  Love those trees, and love those birds.

November 25, 2010

Today is Thanksgiving and I'm celebrating with walk #329 out on Indian Rocks Beach.  It's a beautiful day and there are a lot of little puffy clouds in the sky.

November 24, 2010

Today is walk #328.  There are 37 walks left in this first journey.  Its a beautiful day and I'm at McGough Park, walking out on the little pier that juts out over the Intercoastal.  I met an older woman today and she told me that she too walks every day.  She told me that she finds it helps her clear her head, and that she feels not as good without the walk.  I could NOT agree more.
A touch of Fall finally comes at the end of November here in Largo.  The trees starting to turn.
I had to get a little water effect going on the Fall shots.  Love this picture.
The path ahead smells as wonderful as it looks.  The scent of pine and sweet decay make the walk on an entirely different level.
The sign on the boat cover reads "Butch" my nickname.  Just prior to exiting the park, I was talking out loud to my dad and I said "you know... I'm thinking about you.  And if there's some way to give me a sign that you're thinking about me... let me know".  Well, nothing happened while I was in the woods, but the minute I stepped out of the park...  this boat was waiting on me.
The journey continues... but some things are left behind.

November 23, 2010

Hey YOU!  It's walk 327 today
Thank God for Kristin.  Walking with me at lunchtime... not gonna let a day go by without walking.  What a pal!
The gators lay low on the banks of the Carillon lake, just waiting for something tasty to walk by.
The road ahead!
The corporate jocks play a little Bball outside work at lunchtime.  Everybody manages to get a workout in in some way if you're truly committed.
Kristin is always happy!  Another good walk today and it's over.  Maybe that's why she's smiling.

Walk #326, just a boring walk around the neighborhood.  A good night, but a boring walk.

November 21, 2010

Walk #325 was actually a duo today.  First stop, 7am in Downtown St. Petersburg, FL to watch Kristin & Kelly run in the Women's Half Marathon and 5K race.  Then it was off to Treasure Island, FL with my daugher to see the Sanding Ovations sand castle exhibition.
Kristin and Kelly after the race.  I was amazed at the times they put in and so proud of my co-workers and lunchtime walking buddies.  They were just terrific.
Kelly finished strong.  She put everything she had into it and did great.
Kristin was focused and paced it perfectly all the way to the finish line.
Me and Melly taking in the sandcastles at the Sanding Ovations exhibit behind the Bilmar hotel on Treasure Island.

And the journey continues!
